Justin Bryans's Biography



Justin Bryans, Director of Drug Discovery

Justin Bryans is currently Director of Drug Discovery at the Medical Research Council Technology’s (MRCT) Centre for Therapeutics Discovery (CTD) based in London, UK. He trained as a chemist at the Universities of York and Oxford, the latter being as a post-doc under Professor Sir Jack Baldwin. Since then he has gained over 20 years experience as a medicinal chemist in a number of Biotechnology and Pharma companies, including Parke-Davis and Pfizer. He joined MRCT in 2005. He currently leads the drug discovery operation at MRCT which involves collaborating on cutting edge academic biology, progressing the projects to proof of concept, and in the process developing small molecule and antibody based leads and potential drugs. These products are then partnered with Biotechnology and Pharma companies for progression towards treatments for diseases of high unmet need. Justin has held an Honorary Professorship at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) and undertakes teaching on drug discovery at QMUL, University College London and the Wellcome Trust. He also sits on the Drug Discovery Committee for Cancer Research UK and the Confidence in Concept panels at QMUL, University of Leicester and the University of Florida.
