Christian Hellmuth, Post-Doc

Christian Hellmuth is pharmacist and postdoctoral research associate at the Division of Nutritional and Metabolic Medicine at the Dr. von Hauner Childrens’ Hospital in Munich. He first got in touch with mass-spectrometry related metabolomics when he accomplished his PhD thesis about “Targeted Clinical Metabolomics: Method development and validation with focus on sulphur-containing amino acids and nonesterified fatty acids” from 2010 to 2013. After finishing his PhD, he started a postdoctoral position at the Dr. von Hauner Childrens’ Hospital, which is part of the Ludwig-Maximilian-University in Munich in 2013. Christian Hellmuth oversees the metabolomics projects of Division of Nutritional and Metabolic Medicine under supervision of Berthold Koletzko. His topics are identification of biomarkers for obesity, insulin resistance and diabetes as well as alteration in metabolic processes of obese children. His main focus is on the mechanism of Early Programming and, thus, he is involved in cohort and interventional studies in pregnancy and early childhood.
