Thomas Pauwelyn, Researcher

Thomas Pauwelyn earned his B.S. in Bioscience Engineering with a specialization in Catalytic Technologies in 2011 and a Master in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology with option Bioscience Engineering in 2013, both at the university of KU Leuven. Thomas then continued at KU Leuven by starting a PhD working at the Life Science Technologies group of imec, a micro- and nanoelectronics research center headquartered in Leuven, Belgium, where he received a fellowship from the Institute for the promotion of Innovation by Science and Technology (IWT) in Flanders, Belgium. Thomas’s research focuses on developing novel organ-on-chip systems for predictive toxicology and regenerative medicine with a specific interest in developing a new platform to evaluate the electrophysiological and contractile effects of drugs on cardiac cells.
