Dr Kadamb Patel has more than 23 years of research experience, including 12 years of industrial research in the area of product development. After his doctorate degree in Biochemistry, he joined the National University of Singapore as a post doctorate fellow and was trained in Molecular Biology and Proteomics. He later joined a local biotechnology company where he developed a novel transdermal technology which was adapted to produce many new products for consumer markets. Over a span of 12 years, a range of new novel products were launched using this adaptation.
Currently at Temasek Polytechnic, he is developing a paper-based low cost onsite diagnostic devices and biosensors using Molecular Biology, Biochemistry and Immunology. Kadamb has multiple research projects in collaboration with NUS, NTU, NUHS, and SingHealth Polyclinics. He also works closely with industry partners to solve problems.
Some of his achievements includes: Securing three external research funding (MOE TIF) and one US based industry sponsored project, Developed sensitive cost effective multiplex high resolution melting assay for shrimp pathogens, Developed point of care prototypes for low cost enzyme and ELISA based assays (Kidney markers liver markers and Gout), Developed low cost paper based biosensors for the detection of microbes, Developed novel biosensors for detection of bacterial volatile organic compounds.
