Rhiannon David's Biography

Rhiannon David, Senior Scientist

Rhiannon is a Senior Scientist in the Genetic Toxicology group, part of the wider Discovery Safety team at AstraZeneca, Cambridge, UK. Rhiannon received her PhD in genetic toxicology from the University of Birmingham in 2009 and following this joined the Department of Medicine at Imperial College, London, where she spent 5 years as a postdoctoral scientist, undertaking research into the genotoxicity of mixtures of food-derived genotoxic carcinogens. During this time, Rhiannon developed an interest in novel techniques that would improve the in vivo relevance of in vitro assays, and investigated the use of organotypic 3D culture for genetic toxicology tests. In her current role, Rhiannon delivers genotoxicity safety assessment of potential new therapeutics across multiple therapy areas, and is involved in the development of microphysiological systems for safety assessment.
