Gregory P. Roth, PhD is an Associate Professor and Director, Medicinal Chemistry at the Sanford-Burnham Medical Research Institute campus located in Orlando, Florida. Dr. Roth has over 20 years of pharmaceutical discovery and development experience with now 6 years of contributions as an academic Investigator. His research team focuses on the development of new synthesis methodology and generation of bioactive compounds based on natural product motifs. Therapeutic targets under investigation are in the areas of metastatic breast and prostate cancer and also cardiovascular lipotoxicity, a key morbidity associated with obesity and onset of diabetes. As a synthetic chemist, Dr. Roth has been keenly aware of emerging technologies and laboratory tools that can enable the discovery of new medicines. One current project area actively focuses on the use of microfluidic synthesis to achieve photochemical and electrochemical-based synthetic transformations at the laboratory bench.
