Head
Following a PhD at the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Genetics, Berlin, I gained my first experience in medical research at the Johns Hopkins Medical School, Baltimore. The aim to develop effective cell replacement strategies following brain damage was brought into focus during my time as the head of the Experimental Department at the IFOM, University of Cologne. As the head of the Research Unit of Experimental Neurotraumatology, Medical University Graz, Austria, it is my goal to further enhance in vitro stem cell culturing in order to optimize stem cell survival, differentiation and integration in vivo following transplantation of cells into injured brains.
