Eva-Maria Krämer-Albers's Biography

Eva-Maria Krämer-Albers, Group Leader

Dr. Eva-Maria Krämer-Albers is Group Leader at the Department of Molecular Cell Biology and in the Focus Program of Translational Neuroscience at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz (JGU). She received a PhD in neurosciences at the University of Heidelberg (Germany) in 1997. She was further trained in molecular cell biology and neurogenetics at the Centre for Molecular Biology Heidelberg (ZMBH) and the MPI for Experimental Medicine (Göttingen). She was awarded a venia legendi (habilitation) in cell biology and neuroscience. Her research interest is focused on cellular neurosciences in particular the molecular mechanisms of neuron-glia interaction and myelin biogenesis with implications for CNS disease. She studies the principles of membrane traffic in myelinating cells and the role of extracellular secreted vesicles in neural cell communication. Since 2012 she is active as Associate Editor of the Journal of Extracellular Vesicles.
