This course will provide a broad overview of Lab-on-a-Chip (LOC) technologies as an enabling technology for new product development in diagnostics and the life sciences. Emphasis is put on the complete development process for commercial microfluidics-enabled products, covering aspects of development strategies, a broad range of manufacturing technologies including 3D printing, application cases, markets as well as aspects of commercialization and latest trends in the academic world. Recent product examples will be presented as well as lessons learned during all stages of the development and commercialization process of LOC-enabled devices.
