Overview of this Training Course

This Training Course presents an overview and discussion of the various methodologies for the isolation, characterization, and study of exosomes, microvesicles, and other classes of extracellular vesicles (EVs), plus an analysis of the various classes of circulating biomarkers carried by EVs.  Detailed protocols are presented and analyzed based on methodologies utilized by the researchers in the field.  Also, competitive benchmarking of commercial platforms and products are presented.

This course is designed for both the newcomers in the EV field as well as the experienced researchers who would like to share their perspectives and learn the up-to-date methodologies.

  • Introduction to Exosomes, Microvesicles, and EVs
  • Research Methodologies Utilized for Isolation from Biological Fluids (annotated with Experimental Protocols)
  • Research Methodologies for Characterization and Enumeration of EVs (Light Scattering Approaches amongst others)
  • Interrogation of Biomarker Cargo derived from EVs (Methodologies for Studying RNAs and Proteins within EVs as well as the advantages and disadvantages of each approach)
  • Review of Commercial Products and Services in the EV Space -- Suitability of Different Approaches based on Application Areas
  • Diagnostics Development (Liquid Biopsies) using EVs: A Presentation of Potential Disease Classes, Biofluid Classes, as well as Current State of the Field
  • Single EV Analysis via Flow Cytometry

The speakers presenting this training course are very senior researchers in the EV field from top-tier institutions, highly-respected in the field, and highly conversant with the various approaches and methodologies for EV isolation and analysis.  This training course is very interactive and questions/comments from the attendees are encouraged as a means for sharing experiences with different approaches and offering a rich learning opportunity from your colleagues.

All course attendees will receive electronic copies of EV research protocols to bring back to their laboratory and offering hands-on guidance on studies of EVs in addition to recent publications, reviews and Powerpoint presentations that constitute the course materials.
