Gary M. Oosta holds a Ph.D. in Biophysics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a B.A. in Chemistry from E. Mich. Univ. Dr. Oosta has authored 28 technical publications and is an inventor on 77 patents worldwide. Dr. Oosta’s interest in Strategic Technology Forecasting was triggered early in his career by a senior manager at Agfa-Gevaert / Bayer. He applied and extended the lessons learned over a 25 year career in industrial research at Abbott Labs, Miles Labs/Bayer and in the US Army where he investigated various technology areas including medical diagnostics, thin-layer coating, bio-effects of electromagnetic radiation and blood coagulation and participated in multiple internal corporate ventures. More recently, Dr. Oosta has been consulting for large and small firms in the area of Strategic Technology Forecasting, a business process that leads to more informed, more targeted research program decisions. The visualizations developed by Dr. Oosta tell the story of research and technology developments in a business friendly way that can lead to insights that might otherwise have been overlooked.
