Torsten Mayr received his PhD in chemistry from the University of Regensburg (Germany) in 2004. In 2002–2004 he was a post-doctoral fellow at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm (Sweden). Since 2004 he is Assistant Professor at the Institute of Analytical Chemistry and Food Chemistry at the Graz University of Technology. Since 2014 he is Associate Professor the same institute. His research dedicated to optical chemical sensors and their application in biotechnology and environmental analyses. Further research activities include functionalized micro- and nanoparticles, luminescent materials and the integration of sensors in microfluidic systems.
