Nicholas Scott Lynn, Research Scientist, The Institute of Photonics and Electronics of the Czech Academy of Sciences (IPE)

N. Scott Lynn studied Chemistry at the University of Colorado at Boulder and, after spending 5 years working in the synthetic fuels industry, finished his PhD in Chemical Engineering at Colorado State University in 2009. He currently works as a research scientist in the Optical Biosensors division of the Institute of Photonics and Electronics in Prague, Czech Republic. His main research regards the development and use of microfluidic systems for biosensing technologies, with a specific interest on the balance between robust instrumental design and optimal analyte delivery.

This presentation describes the development of microfluidic nanoplasmonic biosensors composed of arrays of metal nanoparticles, specifically focusing on the balance between optical performance (in terms of RI sensitivity) and analyte transport (in terms of the rate of analyte capture).
