Artis is an Msc. Student of molecular biology at the University of Latvia and a research assistant in Latvian Biomedical research and study center in Riga, Latvia. He currently works with establishing organ on chip systems made from alternative materials such as thermoplastics and other polymers that have reduced small molecule absorption and gas impermeability with the aim for drug and disease testing. Currently his focus is on human microbiota culture in an anerobic Gut on a chip model and Lung on a chip development from iPSCs. Artis also has experience with extracellular vesicle (EV) isolation from cell cultures and hollow fiber bioreactors.
