The DDU: 10 Years of Academic Drug Discovery: With a Lot of Help From Our Friends.
Paul Wyatt,
Head of the Drug Discovery Unit,
University of Dundee
The Drug Discovery Unit (DDU) at the University of Dundee, established in 2006, is a fully integrated drug discovery unit, combining hit discovery, medicinal and computational chemistry, drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics. The key aim of the unit is to tackle unmet medical need. We have two main therapeutic focuses: diseases of the developing world e.g. malaria, tuberculosis and kinetoplastid infections; and novel drug targets emerging from the academic sector. In this presentation, I will summarise the capabilities of the DDU and outline some of our programmes.
