Photoredox Transformations in Continuous Flow Using Cu- and Fe-Based Sensitizers
Shawn Collins,
Professor,
Université de Montréal
Photochemical strategies in organic synthesis have experienced a revival due to the facilitating nature of continuous flow methods. The presentation describes the development of Cu-based sensitizers for photoredox catalysis as well as preliminary attempts to employ Fe-based catalysts in synthesis. Examples in the use of carbon-based materials, as well as in the synthesis of heterocycles are presented. In addition, a brief discussion of the set-up of a continuous flow UV-light apparatus will be presented and preliminary attempts to develop UV-light methods for the synthesis of carbazole-based compounds for medicinal chemistry purposes will be discussed.
