Ian Papautsky,
Professor
Dr. Ian Papautsky is Professor of Electrical Engineering in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computing Systems at the University of Cincinnati. He is Director of the Ohio Center for Microfluidic Innovation (OCMI) and Co-Director of the National Science Foundation (NSF) Center for Advanced Design and Manufacturing of Integrated Microfluidics (CADMIM). He received his B.S. degree (1995) in Biomedical Engineering from Boston University, and his Ph.D. degree (1999) in Bioengineering from the University of Utah. Prof. Papautsky’s research focuses on the use of microfluidics in point-of-care sensor systems and lab-on-a-chip cell separations. He authored or co-authored 70 journal articles, 12 book chapters, more than 120 papers in refereed conference proceedings, numerous other presentations and invited talks, and 12 patent applications or issued patents. In recognition of his work, he has received a number of awards and honors, including Distinguished Engineering Researcher award, University of Cincinnati (2009); the Ohio Bioscience 30 in Their 30s (2007) award; and the Excellence and Service Award, International Society for Optical Engineering (SPIE; 2005, 2007).
