In this talk, the presenter will discuss about their work on understanding the molecular basis of stress tolerance in rice using an OMICS-based approach including transcriptomics, proteomics, ionomics and metabolomics. Further, the talk will cover the identification and functional validation of key stress responsive genes, which may prove to be a suitable candidate for translational research. This Keynote Talk will focus on exploitation of NGS tools in soybean and other crop species for developing efficient genotyping-by-sequencing (GBS) approaches and analytical tools to provide cost-effective genotyping solutions to breeders. First part of the talk will focus on their latest pipeline (Fast-GBS) for calling SNPs from GBS read data and will provide an overview of its efficiency and accuracy. In second part of the talk, the speaker will illustrate how such dense genome-wide SNP coverage can facilitate the identification of QTLs that are highly relevant to a specific set of breeding materials. In closing, a brief overview of the SoyaGen project will be discussed. |

Further, it will also highlight results of RNAi-based approaches for developing tomato transgenic plants resistant to an important insect pest, Helicoverpa armigera, for enhanced shelf life of fruits and male sterility. |
