Continuous Manufacturing – Hardware and Application Processes
Olaf Stange, Researcher, Bayer Technology Services
Flow Chemistry on the basis of process intensification, has become an important topic in the fields of chemical and pharmaceutical industry. It is an opportunity to improve efficiency in chemical and pharmaceutical synthesis and to develop new ways of production. The presentation will illustrate how the hardware is developing and how production scale can be realized to reduce manufacturing costs for the production of high-value chemicals like API’s. The presentation will highlight selected equipment and approaches to apply flow chemistry in an effective way. Especially the request for a cost-effective and fast scale-up of continuous processes to pilot & industrial scale demands easy-to-scale reaction units and their integration in container based production units.
