Nondestructive Pharmaceutical Analysis and Visualization

Pharmaceutical analytical platforms and technologies of yesteryears and recent are much different and these even may be more different in future. The drivers for change include user’s needs, ever emerging regulatory requirements, emergence of new science, and competition among manufacturers of instruments. These factors have also brought good change in modern spectroscopy tools. Major developments are in terms of nondestructive pharmaceutical analysis, process analytical technologies (PAT), and pharmaceutical visualization. The techniques involved include Attenuated Total Reflectance (ATR); Near Infrared (NIR), FT-Raman, Terahertz, X-Ray, Quadrupole Resonance (QR) Spectroscopy, Frequency Modulation Spectroscopy (FMS), TOF-SIMS, etc. With the pace of developments, it is envisaged that a day will come when the mobile handset will become a routine quality testing tool for pharmaceuticals by involving any of the mentioned tools.
