Rajpal Singh Kashyap, Senior Scientist (Medical) and Head, Central India Institute of Medical Sciences

Dr. Rajpal Singh Kashyap is presently working as a Sr. Scientist(Medical) and Research head in Central India Institute of Medical Sciences, Nagpur. His areas of research interest are immunodiagnostics, proteomics, neurology and infectious diseases. Dr Kashyap have developed around 20 advanced molecular and immunological methods for rapid and early diagnosis of bacterial and viral neuroinfections. Three Indian patents have been granted to him. He has 92 publications on his name in National as well as International journals. He is Ph.D Supervisor of Nagpur University in Biochemistry and of Datta Meghe Institute of Medical Sciences DEEMED University in Clinical Biochemistry, Clinical Microbiology and Medical Biotechnology.he visited several countries including US,UK,Japan,South Africa,Bangkok,West Africa etc and presented his work on neuroinfection. More than 90 students have done their dissertation under his guidance a, 6 students have completed 06 students are doing their Ph.D. under him. He is an Editorial Board Member and Reviewer of many peer reviewed Journals. He has received various prestigious awards Japan Neuroscience Award, Global Health Award from Bill and Melinda Gates foundation and Welcome trust award. He is a member of the following learned societies, Japan Neuroscience Society, International Brain Research Organization, Society of Biological Chemist (India), Association of Clinical Biochemistry of India. He received funding for his various project from DBT, DST, ICMR and CSIR.Recently He received grant of Rs.1.5 Cr from ICMR for Zoonotic tuberculosis.

In this talk, proteomic techniques, one & two dimensional electrophoresis, immunological and molecular tools for identification of markers specific to brain TB (Tuberculous meningitis) will be discussed. Further, it will also discuss use of these biomarkers to develop diagnostic kit for the prediction and/or early diagnosis of Brain TB and also to understand the pathogenesis of disease.
