Per Artursson, Professor, University of Uppsala

Per Artursson is professor in Dosage Form Design at the Department of Pharmacy, Uppsala University, Sweden where he heads the Drug Delivery research team. His research aims at understanding drug absorption, distribution, metabolism and elimination (ADME) at the molecular and cellular level in order to deliver drugs more effectively via the oral route. He also investigates the effects of drug transporting proteins to drug disposition and drug interactions. He recently founded a collaborative research platform for drug optimization and pharmaceutical profiling (UDOPP) that aims add value to all stages of pharmaceutical and ADMET related research: http://www.farmfak.uu.se/farm/UDOPP/. He is recognized for introducing cell culture and computational models for predictions of drug absorption and has received many awards for his research. A more recent research focus deals with the function of important drug-transporting proteins in the human body in order to better understand drug disposition and drug interactions. He is listed as one of the worlds most cited scientists in pharmacology and toxicology.
