Richard Walmsley's Biography



Richard Walmsley, Professor, University of Manchester

B.Sc. (Microbiology) and Ph.D. (Genetics) at University of Kent (UK), followed by PostDoc at University of Chicago. Currently Professor of Genetics at University of Manchester. Founded Gentronix Ltd in 1999. Research activity moved from yeast genetics to genetic toxicology in human cells. Current interests include the development of experimental strategies to identify misleadingly positive in vitro results.

It is tempting, but not very useful to assess a new in vitro test by comparing its results with results from other in vitro tests. This will be demonstrated with both theoretical and real examples.
