Fabrice Gorrec,
Crystallization/Automation Scientist,
MRC-LMB
Fabrice gained experience in Structural Biology and Drug Discovery at GlaxoSmithKline (2003-04) and later at the Structural Genomics Consortium (2005-06). As a research engineer, he participated in the development of protein crystallization technologies applied to structure determination by X-ray diffraction, including notably the TOPAZ system (Fluidigm®) and more recently the dragonfly® (TTP Labtech). Since 2007, Fabrice is responsible for the Macromolecular Crystallisation Robotic Facility at the Medical Research Council - Laboratory of Molecular Biology (MRC-LMB, Cambridge, UK). He enables extensive initial crystallization screening and later crystal optimization, always lending his support to research scientists who tackle difficult, long-term research problems. In 2012, Fabrice received an MRC Award for innovations in the field of macromolecular crystallization (including the MORPHEUS® screen, commercialised by MRC Technology).
