Michael Walters,

Dr. Walters has over 20 years of combined professional experience in the fields of synthetic organic chemistry and medicinal chemistry. He began his academic career in the Chemistry Department at Dartmouth College and then joined Parke-Davis (Ann Arbor, MI) which later became the Pfizer Global Research and Development, Ann Arbor Laboratories. He is currently the Director of the Lead and Probe Discovery Group in the Institute for Therapeutics Discovery and Development (ITDD) at the University of Minnesota and a Research Associate Professor of Medicinal Chemistry. He contributes to projects targeting Alzheimer’s, muscular dystrophy, fungal infections, and ataxias. The ITDD provides high-throughput screening, medicinal chemistry, and GMP compound scale-up services to support translation research at the UMN and to the local and national biotech communities.
