Ricardo Macarron,

Dr. Macarron is Vice-President of WW Sample Management Technologies in GlaxoSmithKline R&D. He served as President of the Society for Biomolecular Sciences (SBS) (2007-2008) and is Associate Editor of the Journal of Biomolecular Screening. Macarron received both his doctorate in Biochemistry (1992) and bachelor’s degree in Biology (1987) from the University Complutense of Madrid (Spain). Dr. Macarron also holds a master’s degree in Technology Management (2006) from the University of Pennsylvania (USA). He joined GSK in 1992 and has worked since in positions of growing responsibility within the area of drug discovery (high throughput screening, biological assay development and compound management). In 1999 he moved from Spain to Pennsylvania, where he currently resides.
