Dr. Elmer is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin law school. In addition, Dr. Elmer holds a doctorate degree in chemistry from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a bachelor's degree in chemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Dr. Elmer is an associate at the Washington, DC, law firm Sterne, Kessler, Goldstein & Fox P.L.L.C. Her intellectual property law experience has principally been in the biotechnology and chemical areas. Her legal experience includes counseling clients in various intellectual property matters such as patentability investigations, validity and infringement analyses, and freedom to operate. She has also prepared and prosecuted patent applications relating to bioprinting, pharmaceuticals, therapeutic methods, agricultural chemicals, polymers, nanostructures, stem cells, and antibodies.
