Wendy Hsu's Biography



Wendy Hsu, Engineer/Group Leader, Genentech Inc

Wendy Hsu is currently an engineer and group leader in the Early Stage Cell Culture department at Genentech responsible for developing cell culture process for molecules assigned to her group from final clone selection through Phase I clinical material manufacturing. Prior to joining Genentech in 2005, Wendy had held development engineer positions at GenVec, Inc. and at SAIC/NCI-Frederick. Wendy received her B.S. in chemical engineering from University of Maryland, College Park, and her M.S. in chemical engineering from University of California, Berkeley.

ambr(TM) is an automated workstation that provides individual monitoring and control of culture DO and pH in single-use, stirred-tank bioreactors at a working volume of 10-15 mL. This talk reviews our evaluation of the system’s ability to mimic bench-top bioreactors and its application in clone screening.
