Jiayu Liao's Biography

Jiayu Liao, Associate Professor, Bioengineering and Stem Cells, University of California, Riverside

Jiayu Liao obtained his Ph.D. degree in the Department of Biological Chemistry from UCLA, School of Medicine 1999. Before he joined the Genomic Institute of Novartis Research Foundation (GNF) as founding scientist of GPCR platform, he conducted his post-doc. training in the Peter G. Schultz’s lab at the Scripps Research Institute and GNF. Prof.Liao joined the University of California at Riverside in 2006 as a founding faculty of the department of Bioengineering and Bioengineering Interdepartmental Graduate programs. He is founders for two biotechnology companies, including one spin-off company from University of California. His collaborative work led to the establishments of the Scripps Molecular Screening Center and the National Compound Library of China. He has more than 20 patents covering various disciplines from biomedical research, drug discovery to engineering technologies, and his papers has been cited more than 2300 times.
