Rob Montfort's Biography

Rob Montfort, Leader, The Institute of Cancer Research

Rob van Montfort joined the Institute of Cancer Research (ICR) in London in 2007 where he set up high-throughput X-ray crystallography to support drug discovery at the Institute’s Cancer Research UK Cancer Therapeutics Unit. He is currently leading the Unit’s Hit Discovery and Structural Design (HDSD) team, which is responsible for hit generation using high-throughput and fragment-based approaches. Previously he worked at Astex Therapeutics in Cambridge, where he was involved in fragment-based drug discovery using X-ray crystallography and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR).He received his PhD in protein crystallography at the University of Groningen, the Netherlands and has worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the School of Crystallography at Birkbeck College, University of London.
