Prof Siddhartha Roy is presently Director, at Bose Institute, Kolkata. He is also Director-in-charge at National Institution of Pharmaceutical Education and Research-Kolkata, Govt. of India Further, he holds the position of Cluster Director at Eleven Biological Institutes of CSIR (Govt. of India). He is also President at West Bengal Academy of Science and Technology (State Academy). His current research interests are in the fields of Macromolecular Interaction: Recognition and Engineering; Drug development including Designing peptidometics against protein-protein interaction & Drug discovery from natural sources; Peptide therapeutics; Protein-nucleic acid interaction etc. He completed his B.Sc.(Hons.) in Chemistry in 1974, First Class from Presidency College, University of Calcutta, Calcutta, India. Therafter, he persued his Ph.D. in Chemistry with specialization in Biochemistry from University of Delaware, USA. Dr Roy is the recipient of many awards and honours namely Santi Swarup Bhatnagar Prize(1999), Meritorious service award (1986); from Dept. of Health & Human service USA, Human Frontier Services Fellowship, 1993 besides other. He is also the member of several Important Committees/Councils namely CSIR Governing Body, CSIR Society, CDFD Scientific Advisory Committee, CDFD Governing Council, CSIR-CLRI, CSIR-ITRC, CSIR-IIIM, CSIR-CCMB, CSIR-CDRI, CSIR-IMTech, NII Scientific Advisory council, INSA, IASc, Birla Industrial and Technological Museum.
