Jayashree Aiyar's Biography

Jayashree Aiyar, VP, Jubliant Biosys

Dr. Aiyar has had a career span of 14 years in the pharmaceutical industry in the US, where she was the leader of target discovery and drug discovery programs at Theravance, Merck and AstraZeneca in the areas of Neuroscience, Immunology and Pulmonology. She has expertise in GPCRs, ion channels and monoamine transporters and proficiency in molecular and cell biology, in vitro pharmacology, target validation technologies and immunogenicity strategies. She has a passion for investigative biology and new project idea generation. Dr. Aiyar obtained her PhD degree in Viral Immunology from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. Subsequently, she pursued her post-doctoral research at the California Institute of Technology and the University of California at Irvine, working on the molecular pharmacology of ion channels. Dr. Aiyar has over thirty peer-reviewed publications, three book chapters, seven patent applications and two issued patents to her credit. At Jubilant, Dr. Aiyar is responsible for leading the Inflammation and Metabolic Disorders therapeutic area. In addition, she contributes her scientific knowledge in the Pain and Inflammation therapy area on a need basis. She also supports the department in various new scientific and functional initiatives that span across the Discovery organization.
