Amedeo Caflisch, Full Professor, University of Zurich

The Caflisch group at the University of Zurich has developed efficient in silico screening tools based on fragment docking and molecular dynamics.
Amedeo Caflisch has published 200+ peer-reviewer papers; his h-index is 64.
The group has solved also the crystal structure of nearly 50 bromodomain/ligand complexes and 10 tyrosine kinases/inhibitor complexes.

Since 2001: Full Professor and Chair of Computational Structural Biology at the Department of Biochemistry of the University of Zurich.
1995–2001: Assistant Professor at the University of Zurich.
1992–1994: Postdoctoral fellow at Harvard University in the group of Martin Karplus (2013 Nobel prize in Chemistry).
1991: PhD at the ETH Zurich.

We have identified by docking and validated by binding assays and X-ray crystallography several fragments with favorable ligand efficiency for six human bromodomains. Some of these hits have been optimized into nanomolar lead compounds by computer-aided structure-based design.
