Tsai-Kun Li,
Associate Dean & Professor,
National Taiwan University College of Medicine; Chief Executive Officer, Center for Genomic Medicine, National Taiwan University
Dr. Tsai-Kun Li joined National Taiwan University College of Medicine (NTUCM) in 2003. He holds a professorship of microbiology, serves as Director of Office for International Affairs and Associate Dean at NTUCM, CEO of Center for Genomic Medicine and Chief in Center for Biotechnology at NTU. Research conducted in Dr. Li’s lab combines biochemical, molecular and cell approaches with animal models toward investigating three interrelated research programs: (i) Chromatin biology, and topology with medical implications; (ii) Translational research on topoisomerase-mediated DNA breakage, targeting drugs and repair signaling pathways; (iii) Inflammatory hypoxic microenvironment and microbiota in disease progression and therapy. Through collaborations, Li’s team has created world-leading platform for structure-based precision therapeutics based on topoisomerase-targeting (awarded by the 12th National Innovation Award). Dr. Li is heavily involved in global partnership and alliance for Taiwan. He has devoted himself, with project supports from government, to create biotechnology and university entrepreneurship ecosystem and link opportunities for education cooperation and research collaborations. These works all aim to put on initiatives and forces to branding Taiwan and to experience students with global views.
