Chantal Boulanger's Biography

Chantal Boulanger, Research Director, Paris Cardiovascular Research Center

Chantal Boulanger received her PhD at the University of Strasbourg in 1986 and was appointed senior research director at the French Biomedical Agency (INSERM) in 2009. She is currently the Director of the Cardiovascular Research Center in Paris, France, where she is heading a lab on “Endothelial dysfunction and extracellular vesicles”. She has authored over 120 original publications and 45 reviews or book chapters. She also acts as an Associate Editor of Arteriosclerosis Thrombosis and Vascular Biology and the Journal of Extracellular Vesicles.

My group's current research interests focus on the role of extracellular vesicles in cardiovascular diseases. We investigate their role as mediators of cell-cell communication in the vessel wall as well as their potential as biomarkers of cardiovascular diseases. This brings us to investigate the regulation of extracellular vesicle composition, including non coding-RNA packaging, their biodistribution and how the resulting paracrine effects might affect the development of cardiovascular diseases.
