David Farrar,
Associate Professor,
UT Southwestern Medical Centre
Dr. Farrar obtained his Ph.D. degree at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX, in tumor immunology. During this period, he demonstrated a key requirement for cytotoxic T lymphocytes in suppressing the recurrence of dormant tumor cells. He then went on to a post-doctoral fellowship with Dr. Kenneth Murphy at Washington University in St. Louis, MO. While there, Dr. Farrar identified a unique species-specific cytokine pathway that differentially regulated T helper responses between mice and humans. These studies lead to his research program at UT Southwestern investigating the role of innate cytokines in regulating both effector and memory T cell development in humans. Dr. Farrar is currently an Associate Professor of Immunology and Molecular Biology in the Department of Immunology at UT Southwestern Medical Center.
