Amandeep Jindal's Biography

Amandeep Jindal, Project Manager- Senior Product Development Researcher, AGC Inc. Japan

Amandeep Jindal currently serves as a Project Manager in the Research and Development Division at AGC Inc., Japan (https://www.agc-chemicals.com/jp/en/). With over 11 years of experience in microfluidics and materials research, he has applied microfluidics to energy applications, medical advancements, and microreactors. He earned his Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, where he focused on membraneless microfluidics fuel cells, PEM fuel cells, novel electrocatalyst polymer nanofiber composites, and microreactors. His post-doctoral work took place at the University of Tsukuba, Japan, where he also served as a visiting researcher at the National Institute of Materials Science (NIMS), Japan. During this time, his research delved into the self-assembly of conjugated polymers and peptides, as well as laser-ablated nanoparticles for enhanced electrocatalytic activity. He received his Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) from National Institute of Technology (NIT), Warangal in chemical engineering. His ongoing research initiatives encompass digital microfluidics (DMF) and surface modification through fluoropolymer coating. These innovations have far-reaching applications, from point-of-care rapid diagnostics and DNA cloning to drug delivery and beyond through technology transfer.

Digital microfluidics applications are at the forefront of enhancing precision in handling small liquid volumes, enabling diverse functions including medical diagnostics and chemical synthesis. The integration of a hydrophobic fluoropolymer layer becomes indispensable within these systems to enable precise control over droplet movement, prevent undesirable interactions, namely biofouling, and ensure the seamless flow of fluids. CYTOP®, with its highly favorable attributes including hydrophobicity and stability in devices for biochip applications, are used in mass-produced products; with its three available grades offering tailored functional groups: CYTOP®-A with carboxy terminals, CYTOP®-M with silane terminals, and CYTOP®-S with comprehensive fluoro-functional groups. It showcases CYTOP®’s strengths of recognized quality and characteristics, and its supply stability. This discussion highlights on the importance of digital microfluidics and the significance of CYTOP® in such digital microfluidics devices, showcasing its suitability and importance.
