Ana Maria Gracioso Martins, Student, RMIT University

Ana is in the final year of her PhD at RMIT University where she completed her Bachelor of Environmental Science with Honours in Applied Science (Chemistry). In 2011 Ana was awarded the Victorian Undergraduate Water Prize by the Australian Water Association (AWA) and in 2012 she received the Nancy Millis PhD Scholarship from Water Research Australia (WATERRA) in recognition for her ability, leadership and interest in the water sector. Ana is interested in water testing, embedded systems, microfluidics, microfabrication and microanalytical techniques for environmental and point of care diagnostics.

Inspired on flow injection analysis (FIA) systems, this study introduces a microfluidic platform fitted with an on-chip active microfluidic mixing strategy which uses surface acoustic waves (SAWs) to enhance the micro-analytical sensitivity of chemiluminescent species in a continuous flow system.
