Sebastian Rauschert's Biography



Sebastian Rauschert, PhD Student, Ludwig-Maximilians Universität

Sebastian Rauschert is a PhD student at Dr. von Hauner Childrens’ Hospital of the Ludwig-Maximilians University in Munich. He has a background in sociology and public health and is currently working on his PhD, which he started in 2013 under the supervision of Berthold Koletzko and Wendy Oddy from the Telethon Kids Institute in Perth, Western Australia. His project is part of the European Union funded project “Early Nutrition”.
The specific interest of Sebastian Rauscherts work is on finding biomarkers and analysing the effect of early life influences on metabolomic patterns of diseases like obesity and insulin resistance, particularly in young adults. Therefore, he is working with targeted metabolomics data of young adults from The Western Australian Pregnancy Cohort (Raine) Study.

Mass spectrometry based metabolomics revealed polar lipids associated with obesity and different mechanisms for the development of insulin resistance depending on BMI status in 20 years old obese and non-obese subjects taking part at the Western Australian Pregnancy Cohort (Raine) Study.
