Joanne Donkers's Biography

Joanne Donkers, Scientist, TNO

Joanne Donkers works as a scientist at TNO, the Netherlands organization for applied scientific research. With a background in nutrition and biomedical molecular and cell biology she joined the human cell biology team of TNOs metabolic health research department 2 years ago. Here, her main focus is to apply and develop ex vivo tissue models to study drug absorption, metabolism and excretion in order to improve the translation of in vitro gut and liver data to the in vivo situation. The Intestine Explant Barrier Chip was only recently developed and novel areas of application are currently explored.
