Elzbieta Jastrzebska,
Professor and Chair of Medical Biotechnology,
Warsaw University of Technology
Prof. Elzbieta Jastrzebska, D.Sc. Ph.D. Eng. received her MSc in chemical technology from the Department of Chemistry, Warsaw University of Technology (WUT), Poland in 2008, and PhD in chemistry from the same faculty in 2012, and D.Sc. in biotechnology in 2018. Her current research interests are: development of the microsystems used in cellular engineering, Organ- and Body-on-a-chip systems as well as modification of the materials, i.e. poly(dimethylsiloxane) used in the fabrication of such microsystems. She develops Lab-on-a-chip systems used for two-dimensional and spatial (spheroids, hydrogels, multilayers) cell cultures and analysis of carcinoma cells as well as for testing of the selected therapeutic methods (i.e. photodynamic therapy) using free and encapsulated compounds. She also performs studies based on Heart-on-a-chip systems, vascularization and stem cells as a solution in cancer- and cardiotherapies. Prof. Elzbieta Jastrzebska is Guest Editor of the open-access journal Biosensors (MDPI Publisher). Since 2021, she has also been Member of the Director Board of the Chemical and Biological Microsystem Society.
