Arndt Schmitz's Biography

Arndt Schmitz, Head/Senior Scientist, Bayer Schering Pharma AG

Dr. Arndt Schmitz is Head of Research Biobank at Bayer pharma’s Global Drug Discovery unit. He obtained a diploma in chemistry, and, subsequently, his PhD in biochemistry from the Biocenter of Basel University. As a post-doc at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory in the US he continued work on signal transduction. Dr Schmitz then joined Schering AG (Berlin, Germany) as a biotechnology group leader. Today, besides running the Research Biobank, he is taking care of biomarker aspects of therapeutics projects. His activities focus on Drug Discovery and Development, in particular the implementation of emerging technologies in clinical trials.
