Ronald Eijk's Biography



Ronald Eijk, Researcher, Leiden University

Ronald van Eijk is a senior research technician with over two decades experience in the development and implementation of state of the art molecular technology for research and diagnostics. He has been working at the Leiden University and Leiden University Medical Center in the labs of Prof. Frants, Prof. Devilee, Prof. Cornelisse and Prof. den Dunnen. He (co)-authored a series of scientific publications with accent on the mapping and the characterizing of genes for a variety of genetic and genomic disorders. Since 2008 Ronald is working on a PhD project supervised by Prof. Morreau and Dr. van Wezel in the LUMC department of Pathology where he focuses on methodology for molecular pathology in formalin fixed and paraffin embedded material.

The reliable, efficient and fast delivery of molecular pathological qPCR-test results to the clinic is challenging. We present which steps in the process can be partly or completely automated even if only very small amounts of tissue are available.
