Tatsuya Kobayashi, Assistant Professor, Massachusetts General Hospital

Professor Tatsuya Kobayashi at the Endocrine Unit, Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School investigates skeletal development and homeostasis using mouse genetic tools. His major interest is to understand the role and mechanisms of epigenetic regulatory systems, including microRNAs, in skeletal development and homeostasis at the tissue and organismal levels.

Despite the plethora of knowledge on many microRNAs accumulated to date, at the organismal level, their physiologic roles have been demonstrated only in limited number of microRNAs.  As a skeletal biologist, I will discuss about the physiologic roles and cellular and molecular mechanisms of microRNA genes in skeletal development and homeostasis.
