Annamaria Lilienkampf's Biography

Annamaria Lilienkampf, Research and Teaching Fellow, Edinburgh University

After receiving her PhD in Organic Chemistry from University of Helsinki with Prof. Kristiina Wahala, Dr. Lilienkampf moved to the University of Illinois at Chicago where she worked as a post-doctoral fellow in the College of Pharmacy Drug Discovery Program under the supervision of Prof. Alan P. Kozikowski. During her time at UIC, her work mainly focused on the development of antituberculosis agents and histone lysine methyltransferase inhibitors. In 2009, she began working with Prof. Mark Bradley at the University of Edinburgh as Marie Curie Fellow. In the Bradley group, her research has focused on lipid-based gene transfection agents, optical imaging agents, DNA microarrays, and polymer microarrays for stem cell manipulation. In 2013, Dr. Lilienkampf was appointed as a Research and Teaching Fellow at the School of Chemistry, University of Edinburgh.

In my talk I will introduce polymer microarray technology and describe how this approach has been used in a large number of stem cell based applications, notably polymer discovery able to support highly functional hESC-derived hepatocyte like cells and the discovery of a substrate, able to enrich CSC's.
