Rob Field's Biography



Rob Field, Project Leader, John Innes Centre

Rob Field is a Project Leader in the Department of Biological Chemistry at JIC and honorary Professor of Chemistry at the University of East Anglia. He has over 25 years research experience in carbohydrate chemistry and chemical biology and he maintains extensive collaborative research links around the world, reflecting research interests that range from bacterial adhesion and infection, through polysaccharide biochemistry and enzymology to the development of small molecule inhibitor approaches understand carbohydrate metabolism. Professor Field is currently Chair of the Royal Society of Chemistry Carbohydrate Group, Editor-in-Chief of Carbohydrate Research, co-Director of the BBSRC Network on Glycoscience Tools for Biotechnology and Bioenergy (IBCarb), co-Founder and co-Director of spin-out company Iceni Diagnostics.
