Brett Paull's Biography

Brett Paull, Professor, University of Tasmania

Brett Paull was awarded his Ph.D. from Plymouth University, U.K., in 1994, after which he began his academic career as an Associate Lecturer within the School of Chemistry, University of Tasmania, Australia. In 1998, Brett joined Dublin City University, where he progressed from Lecturer to Associate Professor of Analytical Science, Head of School, and Director of the Irish Separation Science Cluster (ISSC).  In 2011 Brett returned to the University of Tasmania to take up a new position as Professor of Analytical Chemistry, based within the Australian Centre for Research on Separation Science. Prof. Paull’s research interests are based within the fields of analytical, bioanalytical and environmental chemistry, particularly fundamental and applied aspects of separation science, including new materials and technologies for application within high-performance liquid and gas chromatography, ion chromatography and capillary electrophoretic based methods, coupled techniques and micro-fluidic platforms. Prof. Paull is author and co-author of more than 135 published papers, reviews, chapters and books on separation science, and recipient of a number of scientific awards, including the RSC SAC Silver Medal in 2005, and is also currently Editor-in-Chief for the RSC journal Analytical Methods.
