In this Keynote Talk, recent developments and emerging directions in the area of ESI and Tandem Mass Spectrometry will be discussed. It will highlight the mechanism of formation of charged gaseous species by ESI and implications of the multiple charge states as observed in ESI-mass spectra of the peptides and proteins. Further, it will also mention about tandem mass spectrometric techniques that helps in deriving important insights on the structural properties of the macromolecules and for sequence identification of peptides.
