Daniel Migliozzi's Biography

Daniel Migliozzi, Researcher, Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne

Daniel Migliozzi received his BSc in Engineering Physics from Politecnico di Milano (Italy) in 2011, and a double MSc in Biophysics and Bioengineering from EPFL (Switzerland) and Ecole Polytechnique (France) in 2014. He worked for industrial R&Ds with both corporates such as Nestlé (Switzerland) and CEA-LETI (France), and start-ups such as Lunaphore Technologies and Abionic (Switzerland). Daniel is currently a researcher at EPFL, where he develops optical and microfluidic technologies for cancer diagnostics and live-cell imaging. He is a student member of SPIE and IEEE.

We developed a polymer-and-glass chip for fast delivery of reagents on tissue slides and fully automatic imaging by integration with an optical microscope, along with high-throughput image-processing for single cell mapping. As proof-of-concept analyses, we identified co-expression and co-localization patterns of biomarkers to classify the immune cells and their activation status in lung adenocarcinoma.
