Tim Sheehy's Biography

Tim Sheehy, Director, Promega Corporation

Tim Sheehy recently joined Promega to develop and apply advanced technologies to accelerate the delivery of quality biospecimens to the research segments. Tim is an immunologist by training with over twenty years’ experience in the clinical diagnostics industry. While supporting efforts within academia, small and large biotech and most recently in supporting the NCI’s mission, Tim applied his operations knowledge to develop, streamline, and automate the NCI’s Division of Epidemiology and Cancer Genetics’ (DECG) DNA Extraction and Staging Lab (DESL). This enabled a substantial increase in the bandwidth of genomic studies serviced while lowering the cost to taxpayers by upwards of 80%. Tim’s success enabled many of NCI’s collaborators and contributors in the Biobanking arena to follow his model and establish state-of-the-art operation protocols and standards for sample handling, tracking, processing and archiving. He received a 2011 NIH Merit Award for his innovative work. We are pleased that Tim joined Promega so as to expand his consultative reach into the Biobanking community.
